Gareth James

Gareth brings nearly 30 years of alternative asset structuring and finance expertise.

Now 5 years a specialist debt advisor, his sell side experience includes (i) Global Head of Fund Derivatives at Deutsche Bank, where he built up a 30 strong trading and structuring team focusing on fund finance, alternative asset linked structured finance and structured investment products, and the dbX managed account platform, and (ii) Global Head of Hedge Fund Solutions at UBS Investment Bank, a business area focusing on alternative asset structured finance and fund finance.

Gareth also has significant buy-side experience, having founded Trium Capital, a multi-strategy private markets asset manager with over 10 separate trading and investment teams and a third party UCITS platform. Prior to Trium, he also founded and built the independent Liquid Alpha UCITS platform, which was sold to UBS.

Gareth started his career as a securitization and structured finance lawyer at Lovells (now Hogan Lovells), before moving into banking with Lehman Brothers.

He holds a BA & MA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge (Queens’ College), with a Part II from the Cambridge Judge Business School.
