Asset-Backed Finance
Asset-backed finance (ABF), also known as asset-based finance, structured private credit or specialty finance, encompasses a broad set of credit types and esoteric assets, from art and entertainment royalties to digital infrastructure, planes, trains, sport and NAV loans.
In the ABF sector, securitisations are predominantly executed bilaterally and/or privately, due to the higher barriers to entry and inherent complexity involved in these transactions.
Private ABF plays a significant role in evaluating new structures and asset classes and providing customised solutions for unique situations. Plentiful bank senior financing provides attractive opportunities for ABF to become the preferred funding method for a growing universe of borrowers, which are seeking non-traditional lenders that have flexible mandates and the ability to structure and underwrite asset-backed risk.
